What pace do you need for a sub-90 HYROX?

There is no single correct running pace because two athletes can reach 90 minutes with very different station and transition splits. The useful equation is simple: target time minus realistic station time minus realistic Roxzone time leaves your eight-kilometre running budget. Divide that by eight for the average kilometre you need to sustain while compromised.

That is why copying a pace table blindly can fail. If your sled pull and wall balls are slower than the table assumes, your required running pace must become faster—or the overall target needs to change.

Sub-60, sub-75, sub-90 and sub-105 are race budgets

Think of each target as a fixed account of minutes. Every extra 20 seconds in the Roxzone, every no-rep and every station slowdown has to be paid for somewhere else. Faster targets leave progressively less room for those losses.

Sub-105 can be a useful first performance goal for some athletes. Sub-90 requires much tighter consistency. Sub-75 demands strong compromised running and efficient stations. Sub-60 is a fundamentally different level of execution where small inefficiencies become very expensive.

Why Roxzone time belongs in your plan

A common race-plan mistake is adding eight run splits to eight station splits and assuming that total equals finishing time. It does not account for the distance and time between the run course and workout stations. Course layouts vary, so use your previous race data where possible and give transitions their own budget.

How to make the calculator personal

Start with a target you can support with recent training. Enter a transition allowance based on previous races or a conservative estimate. Then change the station share until the average run pace resembles what you can repeatedly run after functional work. If the required pace looks unrealistic, do not force the spreadsheet—change the target.

After your next race, replace estimates with your real splits. The biggest gap between planned and actual time usually points toward the most valuable training opportunity.

Open, Pro and Doubles need different plans

A single pace chart should not be treated as universal across divisions. Pro sled loads change the station equation, while Doubles lets partners divide station work but requires both athletes to complete the running together. Build the plan around the format you are actually racing.

What running pace do I need for HYROX?

Your required pace depends on the time you expect to spend at stations and in transitions. Use the calculator to turn your overall target into a running budget rather than choosing a pace in isolation.

Should every station get the same amount of time?

No. Station durations differ substantially. The calculator distributes a station budget as a starting model; your own race history should ultimately determine the targets.

Should I bank time by running the first kilometres faster?

Usually, a sustainable plan is more useful than deliberately creating early fatigue. HYROX running becomes progressively compromised, so judge pace by what you can repeat after stations rather than by a fresh 1 km effort.

Is a pace table accurate for every HYROX?

No. Course layout, division, athlete strengths, penalties and execution all matter. Treat tables as planning references and official race splits as the best feedback on your own performance.
